Sydney FC’s marquee Brazilian striker Bobo has helped Sydney open up an eight point gap atop the A-League ladder, with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Perth Glory at Allianz Stadium on Saturday.
Bobo proved to be the star of the show, scoring his second hat-trick in a row and going on to win goal of Round 13 Hyundai A-League goal of the week, as voted by fans, for his 90th minute goal.
Playmaking Pole Adrian Mierzejewski made a classy pass to Bobo who applied a bicycle kick on goal and there was no stopping it, as it flew from the right post to the left, hitting the inner side net of the goal, in what seemed like an impossible angle in the 90th minute.
Graham Arnold’s men started slowly with Perth Glory dominating the opening 20 minutes, until Brandon O’Neill scored in 21st minute and the floodgates opened.
The 2nd goal was scored in the 58th minute through Mierzejewski, just after his 55th minute goal was disallowed by the VAR for being offside.
Just 4 minutes later and the Sky Blues were 3 goals up after Alex Brosque heads home into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
Bobo’s first goal of the game was scored in the 67th minute from a penalty spot kick, putting it into the bottom left corner of the net whilst Reddy dived the opposite way. The goal was his seventh from the eight penalties that he has taken.
His 2nd goal came in the 90th before the Brazilian finished off with a hat-trick in the 5th minute of additional time.
Halfway into the season Arnold believes his side still have enough room for improvement.
“My challenge is to get a full 90 minutes out of them,” he said.
“We took a while finding our feet in the opening stages but they provided a wonderful, entertaining second half.
“But we still have so much left in us.”
