Brisbane Roar boosted their finals series hopes with a 1-0 victory over Adelaide United at Suncorp Stadium Saturday 3rd March.
The win saw the Roar move to within a point of sixth spot, keeping Adelaide scoreless for a second consecutive game.
French ace Eric Bautheac scored the only goal of the match shortly before the break, curling a free kick from the edge of the area over the wall and past a despairing Paul Izzo.
Matchday 22 continued Saturday 10th March with 4-1 win for Western Sydney Wanderers against Wellington Phoenix at Spotless Stadium.
The fans favourite striker Brendan Santalab scored the opener in the 40th minute with the simplest of tap-ins.
It only took the Phoenix 2 minutes to equalise after Sarpreet Singh pounced on a loose ball and put an excellent shot into the roof of the net.
Central defender Brendan Hamill put the Wanderers back in front in the 68th minute with a header, before scoring another from a tap-in 10 minutes later.
Chris Ikonomidis had the Wanderers hearts in mouths asJosh Risdon set him up with an open net, but still he danced around the Wellington defender to slide into an empty net.
Meanwhile as Round 22 came to a close, Perth Glory kept their A-League season alive, after beating the Central Coast Mariners 3-1 at nib Stadium.
It was a goal in either half to Joel Chianese that gave Glory the edge. The winger scored a header in the 29th minute and made it a brace in the 61st, cleaning up a miss from Keogh.
Andrew Hoole pulled one back for the Mariners in the 72nd minute with a strike from outside the box, but the side couldn’t capatilise.
Glory still found the 3-1 victory on a scintillating free-kick just before 90 minutes to Xavi Torres.
